There's no such word as "can't"!
They're the words that Ena Makes creator, Therese Lyons, remembers the most from her beloved grandmother, Ena. A true maker, Ena loved sewing, embroidery, painting and anything that could keep her hands busy. That creative spirit was passed down to Therese from a very young age. There was always encouragement to be making something, finding a creative outlet to keep boredom at bay and open up a bigger, more colourful world.
With a creative muse in Ena, and two very encouraging and forgiving parents (have you tried getting red paint out of cream shag carpeting?), Therese has spent her 30 odd years learning and making with her hands. She worked in a craft shop all through high school and university, usually spending her wages back in the store. She has a degree in textiles and can usually be found weaving in her spare time.
Therese started Ena Makes in the Spring of 2016, as an extension of her much loved and imitated Ena & Albert jewellery line that began in early 2011. She'd been teaching women of all ages how to find their creativity with polymer clay bead making classes for some time and despite initial nerves (she's an introvert), she realised that getting people making and finding that YES they CAN make something crafty, was quickly becoming her passion.
She's now focusing her attention on building the Ena Makes range, spreading creativity far and wide and inspiring a new generation to be as lucky as she was to grow up a maker.
